Announcement

Horizon Offgrid Energy is considering a long-term Peaktron technology partnership.

Horizon Offgrid Energy, one of the largest ESS unit operators in the Dublin area, is considering a long-term contract to retrofit its existing ESS units with Peaktron technology and to have Peaktron prototype new units for its fleet. The opportunity reflects a clear market need for smarter controls, stronger reporting, better asset utilisation and more compact high-output energy units.

Retrofit existing ESS unitsUpgrade deployed assets with Peaktron control, monitoring and optimisation technology.
Prototype new fleet unitsDevelop practical high-output units around real operator requirements.

Built to rethink modern energy units

Traditional energy storage systems are often bulky, under- or over-engineered, inefficient and expensive. Peaktron was founded to change that. We are an Irish startup initiative implementing radical new ideas in how modern energy units are built, optimized and deployed.

5 years of deep research

Before Peaktron reached the market, founder Vitaly Shafar spent over five years researching a single challenge: how to maximize energy unit efficiency without compromising power, using software intelligence and hardware innovation.

The breakthrough came by combining advanced software optimization with practical hardware know-how. The core idea is simple but powerful: measure, analyse and optimize energy behaviour every half-cycle of a 50 Hz AC waveform; detect real consumption patterns in extreme detail, from megawatt loads down to fractions of a watt; and use that data to optimize power flow, reduce waste and improve performance.

This enables real-time balancing between power sources while matching them precisely against each unit’s physical capabilities.

The Peaktron edge: half the size, twice the value

By re-engineering the hardware and software from the ground up, we are targeting outcomes that traditional ESS units often struggle to deliver:

50% smaller footprint target for comparable output classes
lower asset-cost ambition through smarter design
90% energy-savings potential in selected optimized use cases
  • Smaller footprint: Peaktron units are designed to fit tight construction sites, workshop spaces and residential premises while delivering serious energy output.
  • Lower asset cost: Our design approach aims to reduce physical manufacturing and unit costs by rethinking both hardware and software together.
  • Energy savings: Integrated software and hardware optimization can dynamically reduce ongoing operational energy costs where the site profile supports it.

Precision down to a fraction of a watt

A major part of our research focused on custom smart distribution boards and integrated software/hardware stacks. Our systems are designed to be sensitive enough to measure a small LED load running on a massive megawatt-scale ESS unit.

Imagine an industrial energy unit where optimization starts the exact second a single small LED light is turned on. That is the level of precision our hardware and software are built to deliver, opening up entirely new optimization scenarios for operators.

Driven by a lean, efficient team

Over the past year, Albert Debowski, an energy and wind turbine engineer, and Matthew Laws, a statistics and reporting software developer, joined our lean, highly efficient engineering team to accelerate this research. The team focuses heavily on maximizing efficiency through software-driven hardware orchestration.

Market proven

When we presented our working concepts to active ESS users across the market, the response showed immediate and significant interest. Whether retrofitting existing assets to give them a second life or unlocking operational advantages for new deployments, Peaktron is designed to deliver immediate economic impact.

That is why Peaktron came alive: a high-potential Irish startup built to redefine energy infrastructure.

Use cases

Built for sites where energy decisions matter.

Peaktron helps teams move from reactive energy management to planned, automated and reportable performance.

Typical challenge A site has generators, PV, batteries and grid connection, but no unified logic deciding when to use each source. The result is unnecessary fuel use, high peak charges, weak reporting and avoidable downtime risk.

Construction sites with peak demand problems

Avoid oversized generators, reduce fuel burn and keep equipment running smoothly by using smart software to predict and meet short peak loads.

Factories requiring peak shaving

Reduce maximum import demand, shift energy use to cheaper tariff windows and smooth consumption without disrupting production.

PV, battery, generator and grid optimisation

Prioritise the cheapest and cleanest energy source at every moment while maintaining reliability for critical loads.

ESG and operational reporting

Create clear reports on energy consumption, generator runtime, PV contribution, grid usage, tariff impact, fuel savings and CO₂ reduction.
